LOS ANGELES, September 18, 2019 (Newswire.com) – Los Angeles Moving Company Elite Moving and Storage was recently selected for a once-in-a-lifetime undertaking, moving and storing delicate and priceless belongings of Light and Space sculptor Fred Eversley, a world-renown artist.
According to a Wall Street Journal article, Eversley was evicted from his Venice Beach, California studio earlier this year, after his landlord refused to renew his lease. Eversley made this place both his home and studio for the past 50 years. During that time, he created countless priceless resin sculptures that have been exhibited in major exhibits throughout the world, including the Smithsonian museum.
According to several news reports, Eversley has now moved to a building he owns in the Soho neighborhood of New York City. Elite Moving and Storage has assisted in the transportation and storage of his delicate sculptures. Soon after his eviction, LACMA acquired one of his signature “light and space” lens sculptures.
The Elite Moving team was selected because of their expertise in handling such artifacts as part of their packing and crating services.
Each of the sculptures had to be custom packaged with their own crating, with padding and containers strong enough to withstand the friction of transportation. Some will remain in specialized storage arranged by the Elite team while some will travel to Eversley’s studio in New York.
