PRESS RELEASE  UPDATED: OCT 14, 2020

LONG BEACH, Calif., October 14, 2020 (Newswire.com) – Belal Hamideh Law, a personal injury attorney in Long Beach, has provided uninterrupted services throughout the COVID-19 pandemic. California traffic deaths, which had, on average, dropped during the shutdowns, have returned to their earlier levels. During this time, Belal has been helping those who were injured in vehicular accidents.

Around the time that the “stay at home” order took effect, there was a “steep drop” in traffic deaths during the final two weeks of March 2020. However, more recently, “the number of people killed in car collisions this year… is now about the same as it was at this point in 2019.”

In Southern California, traffic collisions involving a fatality occurred once every 36 hours. In the wake of March 19th’s “stay at home” order, that number went down to one fatal traffic accident every sixty hours.

There are many theories as to the reasons for this increase, from more people returning to driving, to driving speeds of vehicles “up by as much as 30% on some streets.”

“The dangers of COVID-19 are not limited to the virus itself. For many, it can seem freeing to leave their homes and get out on the road. If it feels like there’s less traffic there was in the past, the temptation to drive faster, to go quicker than you might have been able to previously can be very strong. However, in Southern California, there is always someone else on the road. Another person just getting onto the highway may be thinking the same thing as you. Driving the speed limit and driving carefully, these are ways that you can give yourself and those around you the best chance to survive through this pandemic. To say ‘we’re all in this together’ can be a bit of a cliche, but when you’re behind the wheel, it’s absolutely true,” said Belal Hamideh.

Beyond personal injury and vehicular accident cases, Belal Hamideh Law also works as a workers’ compensation attorney in Long Beach.
