The LA Injury Group Offers Advice on the “100 Deadliest Days” for Teenage Drivers

The LA Injury Group is a firm that has worked as wrongful death attorneys in Los Angeles on many cases. Many of these wrongful deaths have involved traffic accidents. In the summer, there are often more traffic accidents than at other times of the year. The AAA recently highlighted this, naming the period between Memorial Day and Labor Day as “The 100 Deadliest Days” for teenage drivers.

Every year, the number of teenagers that die in traffic accidents during that time of year is high in relation to other times of the year. In 2016, more than 1,050 people died in accidents, of which at least one teenage driver was involved. That is a 14% increase from the rest of the year. In the five years that the AAA has studied this particular time frame, roughly 3,500 people, teenagers, adults, and children combined, died in these kinds of accidents.

This equates to 700 people a year and, roughly, 10 a day. While the methods for discovering whether a teenage driver was distracted during an accident are not foolproof, dash-cam videos were able to discern that distraction occurred in more than half of the teen crashes.

“We understand how thrilling it can be for teenagers to drive during the summer months, but we implore them to be careful. That time of year can be wonderful, but it can be fraught with peril as well. Obviously, teenagers should drive the speed limit and avoid alcohol. However, they must be careful to avoid as many distractions as possible. Texting, responding to messages and more — it can wait. The LA Injury Group has seen the consequences too often,” said Benjamin Charchian of the LA Injury Group.

The LA Injury Group, Los Angeles injury lawyer, handles many wrongful death cases involving car accidents, motorcycle accidents, workplace accidents, slip and fall accidents and others.
